Say hello to Mohamed Ayaaz Suleman, the Director of Flight Operations (DFO), Chief Pilot, and Flight Instructor at Miracle Air, with an aviation career spanning over 24 years and more than 18,200 flying hours. Fluent in English, Swahili, Gujarati, and Hindi, Ayaaz is a seasoned professional with an Airline Transport Pilot License certified by both the FAA (U.S.) and the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority and holds a Class 1 Medical. He is also a certified flight instructor and Approved Flight examiner TCAA – Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority.

Ayaaz’s journey began with Precision Air, flying commercial aircraft like the ATR 42-300, before transitioning to bush flying, where he’s flown with Air Excel, Safari Plus, and now Miracle Air. His bush experience includes flying aircraft such as the Cessna 208B, LET410, F406, and Beechcraft 1900D often across some of the most remote and breathtaking parts of East Africa.

He credits the movie Top Gun as his original inspiration, but today, it’s the freedom to explore iconic destinations across Tanzania that fuels his passion. From volcano eruptions to rugged safari airstrips, Ayaaz has seen it all, including flying beside an active volcano eruption in 2014, a surreal experience etched in his memory.

He brings a high level of professionalism to each flight. Ayaaz typically arrives an hour before departure, carefully reviews weather reports, NOTAMs, and routes with the dispatcher, and conducts a thorough checklist of every system onboard.

His calm confidence puts passengers at ease: “I brief them clearly, and I let them know that I’ve done this for a while.”

Off the runway, Ayaaz enjoys working out on his wellness, riding bikes, sipping coffee, and spending time with his family.

His dream route? Kigali, Rwanda – for its mountains and dramatic terrain. And the one word that describes flying for him: Freedom.
